We frequently have potential customers ask - Why do I need a CIO for my business? Technology Pointe's key benefits are the CIO guidance we're able to provide our clients (and our customer service!) You will get a dedicated CIO for all your strategy and technology needs. Here are a few of the things that illustrate the importance of having a CIO:

  • Office moves: We get involved with the planning from day 1. While searching for a site, we will check each address for appropriate internet service. While building out and moving, we manage vendors such as the cabling and AV teams so the client can focus on other parts of the move, including figuring out requirements and ensuring the vendor meets the correct scope.
  • Management of in-house IT teams - we manage your team day to day. We ensure things are scheduled properly to maximize support and minimize downtime. We work with your team on roadmaps, budgeting and training, and give them a large team of experts to lean on for questions, ideas and problems.
  • Budgeting - Each quarter we provide a comprehensive budget including software renewals, internet connectivity and more - click here for some ideas.
  • Software project management - Multiple clients have tasked us with managing software teams. This is typically a third party providing customized software for the business. Technology Pointe attends all design meetings, handles scheduling testing, upgrades and deployments, and acts as the go between for users and the vendor to make sure technical and business needs match up.
  • Hiring - We recently hired (and are managing) an in-house network admin for a client. We handled the process from start to finish - posting the job ads and spreading the word, processing the applications, scheduling and conducting interviews, background and reference checks, etc. We'll manage the IT department including scheduling - if the in-house staff is on vacation, we will make sure everything is handled in their absence, giving you one less thing to worry about.
  • Research - Is your company growing and needs new tools and services? Typically IT will be tasked with things such as "we purchased this accounting system, please install it". Technology Pointe's CIOs are told "we've outgrown the accounting system" at which point we go and find 2 or 3 viable options, put together a list of pros, cons and a recommendation, and then present to your team to make a decision. Which leads to the next point...
  • Vendor contracts and negotiation - We negotiate multiple contracts per month. We were able to save a client over 25% per month in addition to cutting annual increases by 50% on a $6000+/month vendor contract recently as an example.  We handle more contracts in a single month than many IT managers will in a few years, meaning we have the knowledge and experience to apply leverage and get you the best terms possible. We know all the tricks of the trade - waiving installation fees, avoiding autorenews and more!
  • Purchasing - Technology Pointe does sell a limited amount of hardware and software, and many of our clients will purchase from other vendors as well. We will first work with your team to make sure we have the right requirements, then work with the vendor to make sure that you are getting the best deal. In 2015 we put together a computer refresh plan for a company with over 100 users, scheduled out the deployments to avoid interruptions, then were able to save almost 20% off the pricing from the hardware vendor.
